It has taken me 2hrs. to complete about 1/5 the installation of my new "two-tone",red/black wheelskin. I had to take a break, because even at night w/my a/c running I got too hot, and I'm not gonna tell you my frustration level. So my question is: How long did it take your install? and How hard was it?
I know it's going to look hella sweet when its done.

Yeah, steering wheel cover.
My problems:
1.---so so so many little holes---
2.---long long long string---
this string has to be pulled all the way through each hole each
time, w/o getting any knotts which is nearly impossible
3.---matching holes---
messed up on this I thought
4.---stitching---
I should have read the instructions better the first time

After all of the set backs I got started on the right path which was about 1hr. into the project
Then it took another hour to get from the bottom/middle to the bottom/left spoke. Then came the dummy stitches which bridge the gap between the spokes. Messed up on that the fist try. So I left it and came inside for a while.
Thanks for listening...........I'm sure when I get around to the top, it will get much easier. Not much progress for 2 1/2hrs.. but I will post pics when I'm done.

Heres a tip, I've installed that before. Take some vassaline and rub it on the whole length of string and start threading it through alot of holes at a time without making sure each is tight and then pull, that should get r done......hope it works out well

Hey thanks for the info on that project.

I can appreciate the issues in a way as I've recovered and hand sewn the covers for my visors, so "long thread" is not new to me.

Good luck with the finish up.

I've installed two leather wheel covers (neither on my C4) and can say this: if you are a perfectionist, it WILL take awhile. If you do not require perfection, it takes about an hour to get it to an acceptable condition.

O.K. I've finished, taken pics, but for some odd reason I can't load them onto my computer. BTW it looks (for lack of a better word) awesome , and fits perfect ,even though I was'nt precise on my "holes-between-spokes" calculations.
Once I got the hang of it, and I was in the zone, I was finished before I knew it. Ending up on the right hole was a good sign, but it is a fraction off center. Who knew?
I also "dummy" laced the backside, behind the spoke. Who else did that?
THANKS FOR THE INTREST FOLKS--pics as soon as I can figure this out.

Bubba, you obviously didn't drink enough beer before you started....
It may not make the job go any faster, but the duration seems less significant!!!

but it'll be purty, so that adds 8, resulting in a net gain of 6-7!

What wheel skin did you use?

Default Fast Idle?

Hey Bubba, is that a tooth pick, or does your car always idle at 4000 rpm?

I did mine about 3 yrs ago...Looks good, and holding up just fine, despite the hot Texas sun. It did take a while to get it right, and I remember it was tough on my hands.
