Repainting Targa top
I want to repaint my targatop on my 86 coupe. It looks like there is a moulding around the perimeter. How do you get this off and what do you use to put it back on? Can I replace this moulding or do I have to salvage the old piece? I would rather do the sanding and repaint with the moulding off in order to make it look original. Thanks

Yes, you definitely want to pull this trim off before painting. If the trim is in good/great condition you can reuse it. Try to pry the trim off from the underside corner. I used a very small screwdriver to pry mine off. Once you get it to move it will come right off. When putting it back on, I would recommend you let the paint cure for about a week before putting it back on. This is what my paint shop recommended to me when I had mine painted. When I re-installed the trim, I just worked it all the way on slowly by hand to make sure I didn't damage the new paint. Once it is all the way on it will not come off.
