Default Hood Latch Question?

I just developed a hood latch problem that has me stumped. I noticed that the passenger side hood latch was not engaged and the hood was up about 1/2" in that corner. I pressed down on the corner and I heard the hood click into the latch. I drove around for about an hour and came home to find the hood unlatched as it was before I left. Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? Thanks for any help. BTW, I always use the 10" drop method to close the hood.

Could be a couple of things, (1) your hood lock post has slipped, or the lock slide is jammed or broke, or they are just out of adjustment

The latch was probably not completely engaged and with the top off, the body will flex and the hood will pop open. If you have ever tried to put the top on when the car is not sitting level, you’ll know what flex does to the car. The adjustment on the latch is for opening, not closing. You can take the latch assembly off, it’s held in by three 10MM bolts. Clean it and apply some grease. The hood pins may not be going all the way in. Try to adjust the hood stop and let the hood drop. Just try a very small turn each time. You should drop the hood about 8 to 10 " when you close it. Just pull on each corner to see if it is latched That’s the rubber bumper just behind the latch. Also, clean the pin assembly on the hood and lightly lube that area.

Ok, let me know. Remember, the book says to hold the hood about 8" open and then drop to close properly. Grab the hood on each end and pull. If it's not latched properly, it will open part way. Good luck
