All it does is send a false signal to the ECM that you have your foot to the floor on the gas. Sends the ECM into WOT at that point. So instead of pushing to the floor you only push about 60% of the way down to fool it into thinking you want WOT. So it renders the last 40% of pedal travel useless. That really does nothing for performance and actually hurts gas mileage as the ECM thinks you are romping on it when you are only accelerating moderately with partial gas pedal travel.
Here's a link to a site that one of the other CF members created. It covers a lot of the items that are marketing hype.
Fooling the computer isnt going to increase power or times.
Yep, when I bought mine it had the goofy thing on the throttle body. I didn't see it when I was looking at the car. Noticed it when I got home and started the usual maintenance stuff. It didn't look right and after I checked it out and figured out what it was it came off. The airfoil came off too.
If you believe the marketing I robbed myself of 30+ HP.
The Hypertech chip already controls all you need. The throttle response switch will actually make the car run like crap. Just mash the gas
The chip runs fine in my 91, gives me a bit more umph. The cars as a whole are not rocket ships by todays standards with 250-300hp, excluding Zs. So a little more punch is nice.
The airfoil is debateable, not sure how it can do what they claim. Mine I bought had it. I have had it in and out and find no difference other than sound.
The best thing I put on my car was the K&N, simple.
i dont know which one you all are talking of probably the one i have on mine but it doesnt make it run like crap and it doesnt use anymore gas and it does have better throttle response
well you could tell your buds "heck i only was using half throttle when i blew by you back there"
ive been driving my new used gmc c3 pickup with 6.0 liter (gmc's SS model)it has a whipple supercharger on it and puts down pretty good power but i drove the 92 vette today and i did notice that the vette has more stroke to the throttle to get things happening.the gmc is rheostatic throttle so maybe that makes a difference but i wouldnt mind trying a throttle switch on the vette to see if it changed the ration needed toget things done.
the vette should be crisper on throttle response than my truck but its not.
(unless i move the pedal in bigger chunks)
