I've used it before in my old Camaro. Seemed to work as promised. Wondering all of your thoughts/experiences with it. Planning on changing my oil soon and not sure if i'll use it or not.
I've used it with no ill effects, albeit not in the Vette. I really didn't notice that it did anything for the engine except bring the oil level beck up to full.
It really works on the right situation...worn cylinder walls....Does reduce smoke and oil consumtion....Still a band-aid fix...better than nothing and doesn't seem to have any downside besides cost.....Probably most effective of all the additives I've ever tried..

And the additives that "work" cause problems elsewhere in the system.I did the reasearch and have found no additve yet that does what it says without causing somewhere else to plug or wear.In a S-10 I had I bought theses "pellets" that you inserted into the cylinder to do the same thing and it actually worked for 6mo and then I did it again. It had 150k on it and was a beater.Would I do this in a LT1 There is no magic for the engine I wish there was but try searching the web for test of the most popular stuff out there and you will hear the same.
I have 170,000 miles on the C4 and I have been planning on a rebuild in the winter of '05 since I got it 3 years ago. Last summer, (with the rebuild still 18 months off) I tried it and noticed a non-trivial reduction in smoke @ start-up and sooty deposits around the exhaust tips.
I never expected to solve any problems with it, but it did help me keep my vette on the road until I am able to rebuild it propperly.
I defended Prolong on this forum. From the responses you would have thought I pissed in the Holy Water. I was introduced to Prolong by the Md State LEOs. They did use it in all their cars. Don't know if they still do.I kept a Caddy going with it for over three years. No,don't use it in the Vette and don't plan to but I do think it has a place.
And the cheif mechanic at the place my dad used to work always put straight antifreeze in everything, never diluted it. Just because you can do something doesn't mean it is a good thing.
