well I finally did it. I am 51 years old and just purchased my first corvette. It is an 88 medium blue coupe withthe Z52 option and sport seats that is stock mechanically and that's the way I will keep it. It is in rough shape but with 2 kids in college its all I can afford. I hope to make it better. The engine is currently being rebuilt ( 2 bad rod bearings). It will get a crank kit, new rings, 2 new rods, valve job, new oil pump, timing chain and water pump. The interior is tired, the weatherstipping has seen better days and the wheels have some rough spots from hitting the curb. I have seen info about new weathersriping, new carpet, new seat covers but I don't see much about OEM wheels. I would like to buy some wheels that are in decent shape. Any ideas would be helpful. I would also like to have a Bose Cd player. I read somewhere that a late model Camaro would fit but is that my only choice?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. After I get it running I am sure I will have some mechanical questions and from what I see you are a very smart group.
HA! It's obvious you haven't seen most of my posts! Welcome and congrats on your Vette.
I'm sure you'll enjoy your Vette for what it is - there's always a nicer car out there anyway. But when you do get something upgraded it will be that much more special.
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new '88 Vette.
One mod you might consider is tossing the "frisbee" disk from the front of your water pump pulley, story on my site.
You might try our Audio forum for ideas on Bose system. Later Bose units had CD capability but they are not the same layout as the Bose in our '88s. Pioneer makes drop in unit with two dual high level outputs that should interface to our Bose amps/speakers.
