Default 63 Mpg

I'm out and about earlier today on I-96 Westbound near Grand Rapids, MI. I come up on this real snarl of slow moving traffic. WTH, at 11 AM? There shouldn't be any traffic to speak of at this time of day.
As I downshift the A4 into D(no square) and start to get around the mess - what do I see? A stinkin Toyota Prius poking along at about 45mph in the right lane in open country. On the back of this POS he has hand painted in big red numbers/letters 63MPG. Some beach! What to do? I'm thinking of giving him the ol middle finger salute when I do even better. I downshift the Corvette into 2nd and nail it as I go around the azzwhole and his passenger. Let him hear those Magnaflows real good!
I'll bet they are still bitching about "that wize azzed polluter in his loud, gas-guzzling American V8!"
My answer to him is, "Hey pal - my average mpg still shows 23.2 mpg and I am enjoying the hell out of getting where I am going in style and on time!"
Here he was holding up dozens of folks just so he could squeeze another nickel till it choked. There, I feel much better.

The problem is some gene pool reject that is soooo proud that he gets 63 MPG...but can't get it to burn enough rice to hit the speed limit. A hazard to everyone else on the road.

I just felt he had a "holier than thou" attitude by painting that (very sloppily I might add) on the back of his car and by being so inconsiderate to drive 45 in a 70 zone.
I read somewhere that it would take 6 years of driving one of those cars at 60,000 miles per year just to make up for the difference in price that you paid for the dang thing.
I love to drive a good handling, powerful, good looking, good sounding car. I would not sacrifice that to drive something as nasty at that Prius.
Kinda like telling the GF or wife. "Honey, we can save a lot of money on rubbers if we cut the frequency down to once a week."

Turn them inside out (make the wife rinse them) and you can go twice a week. I'm sure that the guy could go the speed limit if he had the huevos. Just don't let it get to you. Blow by him and don't let it turn into road rage.

ANYONE going 45mph in a 70mph zone is a road hazard and should be ticketed.

Last I checked 45 is the minor speed limit on a freeway - but beyond that he could and should be ticketed for not adhereing to the basic speed law essentially it is the drivers responsibility to keep up with the flow of traffic - and yes law officers can and do ticket individuals for not obeying the "basic " speed law

Toyota Pirus getting 63 mpg? According to ConsumerReports.org
its not going to happen. City is 35 mpg, hiway is 50 mpg and overall is 44 mpg.

The Honda Civic Hybird gets 26 city EPA rating is 48 mpg its off by 46%.

The non Hybird 2000 VW Golf gets 54 mpg hiway. The Hybirds are just that hype.

The 06 Corvette is rated at 15 city, 31 hiway and 21 overall.
I can live with 31 hiway. At least you don't have to down for the corners or make an appointment to merge on to the hiway.

Gene pool reject??? That's too funny; almost blew coffee on my screen!

I love the granola greenies who "save the earth" by driving stupid cars really slow. It gives me something to complain about. Oh, BTW... I live near Ann Arbor and we have a lot of the granola backpacker Mother Earth types. Anyone have any of the "hurry up and get there sensibly" types? I'd be willing to make a trade...

If you drive at the most efficient speeds you can beat the EPA. I'll bet the treehugging Gene Pool reject was getting 63 mpg by driving like a Douche-bag ie 45 in a 70 !

To each his own. It is because of people like this one that there is a left lane on the freeway. The guy is probably on the Prius Forum complaining about the inconsiderate guy in the loud sports car that blew by him at 90 MPH on the freeway.

People like him were responsible for the 55 MPH national limit.

What a D-bag

Actually you should have called the cops and see if your state has an impeding traffic law. If so you should have turned him in. That's BS going that far under the limit.
