Rattling

I just bought a 1996 LT4....When driving it and hitting bumbs and anything small in the road there is a loud rattling noise....sounds like metal. Its coming from the front left of the car. My roommate thinks the noise might be the front left brake caliper. Does this sound right? He said its probably loose and rattling....which im sure isnt good...im going to try to fix the problem today. Im just wondering if his guess is right and if anyone else could pipe in on what the problem might be...

It could be about any thing it almost sounds like a loose shock to me ?
