Woke up this morning and opened the door. Sat in the drivers seat, went to put the key in the ignition, BOOM . I'm sitting there like WTF? Look over at the door and my window is all over the ground.
Anyone know any glass shops to get a window cheap?
wow that would make a guys day for sure.only logical thing i can deduce is, like has been posted,a projectile.
maybe it was actually your lucky day.could have been the back of your head!
scary. good luck with the repair.
maybe it was an act of god.arent those non deductible claims?
I thought of this too. No one was around. I live at the end of a street. No lawn people or anything.
I called around and finally found someone to replace the window. There were 2 places out of 5 called that could even get the glass.

If it exploded when opening I could understand, heat and vibration could do that. But, not if it was open for a few seconds. Something sounds kind of fishy, you sure there where no kids w/BB guns nearby?
BB gun? It'd have to be alot more powerful then any BB gun I've ever owned to "explode" a window. Especially if the windows are made of safety glass. Are the side windows made of safety glass or just the windshields? Does it appear that the glass exploded inward, outward, or straight down. Something doesn't sound right about this.
Side windows are made of tempered safety glass that will shatter into pebbles and dust, rather than shards. It isn't that difficult to break. A BB or pellet from a gun can easily take out one of these windows.
Windshield glass is actually two layers of glass with a transparent plastic sheet sandwiched in between the layers. It won't explode into pebbles or shards.

Be well,

Ah, now I understand. Thanks for the explanation SJW.

No, a BB gun will do that if it is hot enough outside. Ask my son how we know!!
I've actually seen that happen before with no external force......it's freaky, but it does happen. An auto glass guy I know confirmed that he's well aware of this, being in the biz himself........ he attributes it to an inherent weakness in the layer of glass itself
