So today i was messing around with my 85 (4+3), I changed the reverse light sensor in the tranny and swaped the key cylinder out. Not after finishing I found that I can no longer get into reverse!!! I disconnected the reverse rod from the tranny to see if it was a problem with the tranny, The shifter still did not work. So i guess something in my steering must have screwed up, I understand the steering lock plays are roll with the reverse lever. Does anyone have any ideas on a fix?

I've got an `85 4+3 on my lot, and the SOB will not go into reverse (engine off) unless the clutch pedel is fully pressed.
Don't know if that dumb suggestion will help you.
My shifter stuck once on my 86 4+3 but it wasn't related to the steering or the clutch. The bolt that aligned the shift gates in the shifter stripped out. I ended up taking the driver seat out, removing the carpet from the side of the tunnel and putting in a new bolt with lock-tite. Its been fine since.
I had a 4+3 in my 88 and there is a adjustment for this in the front of the console. If you get the manual for your car at autozone they have the procedure to adjust this in it. Its a small plastic cylinder that has a tab that has to be pulled up then the key will turn back and then u depress the tab. Something like that process. Again you will find it in that manual, it only costs 17 dollars.
