Are you asking about the hardtop that was available for th 89-96 convertibles or the targa tops for coupes?

1986 to 1998 verts are not set up for the convertible hardtop which was available on 1989 to 1996 Corvettes. The front latch hardware on the windshield and the rear latching hardware on the deck lid are different. There is also a bracket that bolts between the hardtop's built in rollbar and the body behind the doors. There is no provision on the 1986 to 1988 vert body to bolt this bracket to.
There is supposed to be a kit from Eckler's to do the conversion but I don't trust them and don't want to pay their prices.
I, and others have obtained the front and rear brackets from a Corvette salvage yard and installed them on our "early" cars. I had a welder fabricate an "L" bracket that attaches to the internal roll bar of the hard top and then bolts to the upper support bracket of the shoulder belts.
