Default What is it's function?

'92 LT1 Coupe. Located on the Trip Monitor Panel there is a very small circular lens just to the left of the word "Trip". What is it supposed to do, or not do???

I believe you are talking about the PHOTO sensor!
GM calls it the ambient light sensor. The interior light intensity is controlled by the sensor input and the headlamp switch dimmer rheostat setting.

In short it controls the interior lighting and dashboard display intensity.

mucho gras. To interpret correctly, the photo sensor adjusts the dash lighting automatically while the rheostat control overrides it manually.

Appreciate your knowledge.

NOPE! Your dash lighting is controled by input from both!!

It's a small spy camera your wife put in to make sure no one else rides in her seat..

OK, then what is the one that is in the center of the dash, at the base of the windshield???

It is the sunload sensor for the heater and AC.
