my friends and i are in heated discusion about which is faster. i figure the best way to solve this is to find specs. i've been searching the net every where just to find power specs on the cars. ie, hp ratings, curb weight, 0-60, 1/4 time slips, etc. i'm looking to compare a 95 coupe vette to a 01 or so trans am ws6. can someone help me out! thanks.
You might check on line for old issues of popular car mags ratings on those cars.
Of course the GM sales lit for your Vette will have that data. This link is taken from another post here: http://www.fedrelandsvennen.no/amcar...5corvette.html
Oops, sorry but that link doesn't seem to have the info you need.
Car for Car they are to close to even have an argument over. If you were to really break it down the WS6 should be better statisically against an lt1 powered corvette, the lt4 would be another story though.
I figure the best way is to go find one and race it.
I raced one, we ran twice, once he won, once i won, came down to the drivers for us.
If you are both autos the vette would probably come out on top.
Edit: actually i dont know, even with the autos it would probably come down to the launch.
If you both were stock and same tranny, then the other guy sucks as a driver. The WS6 engine is a detuned Z06 engine, so he has about 50-60 hp on you(dont remember the exact hp rating on WS6). He has a better rearend, you are slightly more aerodynamic and lighter, but with respects to you, he should have had your lunch.
Or you are a really good driver.

The ws6 was rated at 325 and the car is heavier. What years are we talking i thought the ws6 was a detuned ls1.
Yeah the time he beat me he had me buy about a car and a half, when i beat him it was about a half car. I think they are documented at 13.3-13.5 stock in the quarter.
My bad, i didnt read the 01', this guy said his was the ls1, i dont know to much about it so i was taking his word, but i thought thats what they all were.
No it was not detuned, putout more hp that a stock vette LS1, it was right in the middle between a Z06 and a stock vette in hp. Was one of the major factors in the Camaro and Firebird lines going away, people were buying TA's and Z28's and putting chips and performance parts and beating Z06's that cost 30-40k more.

Every website i have check has the 2001 rated at 325 hp and 350 torque, thats less than the ls1 in the c5. I would also like to see those time slips from an 01 ws6 with only a chip being faster than a z06 in the quarter.

I work with a guy who has an 01 SS camaro (I assume it is close to the WS 6 firebird). On the same nights at the same track, he is about .5 second slower than my LT-4. His is an auto. I am very experienced and he is not, so I suspect that has a bit to do with it too. That said, my trap speed is 4mph faster.
I'd guess that with similar drivers, a WS6 and an LT-1 vette would be very close.
