I sure could use some help. I just bought a set of plugs for my 87 L98. I told the guy at the auto parts store that I would prefer AC Delco and what he gave me is AC Delco with a part # 41-629. The number on the 1st AC Delco plug that I removed from the vehicle is FR5LS. Also one of the new plugs did not have a compression ring. I noticed this while setting the gap. Is it a problem to use one of the rings from one of the old plugs or is that not advisable? Any advise would be appreciated.
Most plugs provide a lot of information in the designation for each plug. Here is a link to AC Delco http://www.acdelco.com/html/pi_plugs_ident.htm
Info may pertain to heat range, resistor, tapered end, depth, thread size etc. Maybe you can decode what your new plugs are from this.
The original spec for an '87 vette calls for an RF5.

Thanks for the info. I checked their web site also and the number they recommend is the one that I received at the auto parts store. I installed them and everything looks fine so far. Runs like a top. Thanks again!
