I have owned my 40th Vert for over eight years and have never seen that emblem on any Ruby including the eighty lined up @ Carlisle last year. Sorry, but it does look like the hat pin/ tie tack. Makes for a good story to a misinformed buyer on Ebay if you ever wanted to sell...."only put on for GM employees" 
wonder if they got the employee discount

One person says the VP was high up at GM and wanted this badge on all Rubies but due to cost cutting was taken out. Then a retired employee says they were on all "management lease" cars. Yet know one has seen one.
BTW: I agree it looks like a pin in the pic, but looks better in person.

I thought that term was "*****"... I've not heard that before and being ½ Japanese with a loud mouth, I thought I had heard them all from all the stuff I stir up 
And to comment on Dan's "pin" it does look sharp in the car!!! It would be interesting to see the origins of that item... or to see if it can be replaced at Ecklers or another vette vendor. I still say it stands that his car is special... just like a short bus
