I just installed a Spec Stage 4 Clutch and a Fidanza Aluminum Flywheel in my 95 Vette. When I put the car in neutral and let the clutch out it sounds like a chopper under the car. Now Spec says this is normal with an aluminum flywheel. I have a hard time believing this because it drowns out the car. Has anyone else had this problem?? Oh yeah and when you push the clutch in the noise goes away. Thanks!
Have a McLeod clutch and flywheel in my 91. It does chatter a bit, but not to the point it drowns out the car. It's hardly noticeble unless I have the windows down and am sitting next to another car at a light or something and I can hear the noise bouncing off their car.
I think the alum flywheels allow trans noise to be heard.
I do not think this is the same as"clutch chatter", which is usually described as a "jerking" motion, that will sometimes subside over time after installing a new clutch or will continue if you need a clutch..
yep, I've got the camaro flywheel and solid hub disk and mine makes the same noise, but I didn't want to spring for a $700 flywheel when I could spend $50 on a lighter flywheel. For now I'll just put up with the noise....and maybe look at some loud exhausts.
Yep thats the price you pay when you combine the ZF6 w/ single mass and the alum FW is the worst. This has been done to death and some hate it some like it but it will make noise with the SM FW. I got my Clutch from another member that hated it so much he ripped it out and sold the entire setup and went back to DM.
