Is the BRAKE light on the dash supposed to come on when the emergency brake is applied? I just bought a '95 Coupe 6 speed and the light does not come on when the emergency brake is applied. Shortly after I got the car, it came on and stayed on for a couple of days, then went out. It stayed out for over a week, then today it came back on again and stayed on. I seem to remember that it came on when the ebrake was on in another 'Vette. I'm trying to figure out whether I have a sticky switch or if something is wrong with the brakes. (They feel fine, seem to work well and have plenty of pad.) If there is a switch for the ebrake, does anyone know where it's located?
On my '88 here are two brake switches; either can trip that light:
-parking brake switch, located on the rear of the parking brake assy.
-brake fluid level switch, located in the front RH side of the MC.

On my 95..it comes on when the brake is set and goes off when I release it
When the ignition is in START the BRAKE lamp comes ON and should go OFF when ignition returns to RUN.
The following turn it ON:
-Parking brake applied. (PB On and Ign On)
-Warning switch detects a malfunction. (Switch is located on the driver's side of master cylinder)
-Master cylinder fluid low. (Service ABS and ASR lamps will also be lit)
Some thing else of interest, there is a diode in the circuit between the EBTCM and BRAKE lamp circuit leading to the parking brake switch and the master cylinder pressure differential warning switch. The diode's purpose is to prevent the EBTCM from receiving a BRAKE indicator signal from those switches and deactivating ABS/ASR. Not sure of how much value this is. But its interesting.
