So you would probably use a wax/grease remover, then scotchbrite it and then use some paint adhesion promoter.
Then what?
Has anyone painted theirs themselves and had it turn out well?

The previous owner of my car painted the molding. I wish he wouldn't have.
Before you paint, check price/availability of new molding. It is expensive and becoming vary hard to find.
I don't know why you're asking, but if its because it is sun faded or turning white, try trim black. It works really good and it will look factory and you won't wreck your hard-to-find, expensive molding.
Has anyone painted the black body molding strip that runs around the early C4s? Any prep and paint tips/pics?
Fusion is sold just about everywhere - Wally World carries it - it made for plastic - i know the jeep guy's use it on their fender flares on the TJ's - they all seem happy with it - rattle can - under 5 bucks - my flairs are starting to fade on my jeep - this is what i'll use on them & i'm pretty picky - t http://www.picturetrail.comtomhudson
