Default Screw it!

We've all had it happen -

Working on the engine, screw won't go in correctly, you get frustrated.. next thing you know, you stripped the screw!

Unfortunately, this happened on one of my intake runners. Any clue where I can get a new screw from? I can't find any and I only see them sold with the intake runner kits =( I need one of the shorter bolts for the intake runners (It's stripped on the bottom). Luckily, it's still hanging out there, so I can grab it with pliers and shimmy it loose (I HOPE!)

Thanx in advance!

Are you sure it's the bolt that's stripped? That bolt's a lot harder than the aluminum it goes into.

I am bad at terms.. I stripped the part that the hex key turns. So instead of having a little hex shape there, I have a big 'ol circle.

Sorry, shoulda been more specific =X

Ok, just put some vice grips onto the head and turn out the Torx bolt.

Then go to your local Chevy dealer with the stripped bolt and tell the parts guy where it is used and he will come out with a new one.

It sounds as though you may have cross threaded the bolt into the hole so you may need to remove the part and carefully hand start the new bolt.

I hope you aren't using a "Hex Key" on a "TORX" bolt. That will definately strip it out quick.

lol As I said, I am terrible with terminology. I know exactly which bit to use. I wasn't sure if I call it hex, star key, or torx. So I called it hex, hoping someone would pick up on it =)
