in my younger days in new mexico, leo pulled me over and had me remove the tint from front two windows. it was really dark. leo was professional about it, remove it or get a ticket. i took it off as best as i could. here in oklahoma it is legal up too certain %.
NJ has the same law -- no dark tint on driver or passenger front windows. And they WILL stop you if they got up on the wrong side of bed.
NJ troopers pulled me for tint once, I was near Princeton on my way to visit my Grandparents. They did a felony stop with guns drawn, after the searching my car and a bunch of other BS they said they stopped me for tint. It wasn't that dark of a tint and was NC legal. I under stand why some people see a need for regular cops, but, I don't understand the various State highway tax collection agencies!
My '88 have dark tint on the hatch with lighter on the side windows, just the way I like it.
I've only been pulled over a copla times since I've owned the Vette and each time it was warm out so the windows were down.
When you are being pulled over I strongly suggest you roll down both windows as you are comming to a stop. That way the Leo will not feel any intimidation as he approaches the vehicle, though I doubt very much that many felons are out there driving around in their C4.
From: levittown pa. usa Even a bad day with my `Vette, is better than a good day at work

No; but they might be driving around in someone else`s C4 without their knowledge or permission
Here in Ca there is a strict tint law.I had a neighbor that used to tint windows out of his garage. He was always doing the windows of personal cars of law enforcement types, they get pulled over, flash a badge,a little professional courtesy,no problem. Not for you or me though.
Having my windows tinted saved me money once when I was pulled over for speeding, and being extremely polite to the trooper, he only wrote me up for tinted windows which was a lot less $.
Here in Oklahoma, we are allowed to go as dark as 20% on the side windows, and I don't think that there are any limitations on the rear windows. Heck, even the Police cars have tinted windows here!

a few miles south of me the small town leo will park his car in a obvious spot and everytime i drive by i can't see in the cruiser due to the dark tint. it is kinda funny seeing all the brake lights

I dunno', 65, I'll bet there are a bunch of us who have done something at one time or another that could get us charged with a felony....like exceeding 100mph on a public road???

Thats crazy. F_ck'n cops. Meanwhile some child molester/murderer is out on $1500 bail. How about focusing on real crime.
And because it amends current law, you can see what the current law is. But basically, you cannot legally have window tint on your windshield or side windows except for a 4" strip along the top of the window. Back windows are differen't. Read the law and know it and if you plan to break it, be prepared to be pulled over.
I don't understand peoples annimosity towards P.O.'s can you imagine the kind of caos there would be without law enforcment. They just as everyone else is doing their job, sure some of the laws are not needed everyday in every situation, but the reason is public safety, it's like working in construction with hard hat, you'll probably never need that rule of having to where it, but imagine if something happens and you weren't wearing it. It's all just rules and people are needed to enforce them or the world would not be what it is.
South FL gotta have it. There is a law about the % on the side glass. If the officer thinks it is too dark and wants to stop you for it, they have a meter they can hang over the glass to measure the tint for legal limits.Tickets for tint seem to come and go, so they either have a campaign on the tint for a period of time or they have to pass the machine around to different departments. I could not find a tint place that would install darker than the legal limit in my area. So I settled for the darkest that they would put on.
