I am running mufflers with stock quad tips.

If you want the stock look you could slip onto each pipe a Y out into dual tips. Then you would have the freedom to chose tip style from the many available.

I'm running with no mufflers, and using the LT1 tips. Looks stock until you get down and see straight pipes instead of mufflers. Loud? Yes. But I think it sounds great.

No rudness intended but I am glad you don't live in my neighborhood. It's all I can take putting up with noise from the loud scooters at all hours.

No offense taken. I am actually very considerate of my neighbors, and take it very easy on the throttle when I am coming and going. Plus, I rarely, if ever, drive it after hours, so I know I'm not waking anyone up in the middle of the night.

Do you have an X, H or Y pipe and what diameter ???

Sorry for the slow reply. My headers are Hooker shorties-1 3/4". I have no X, H, or Y pipe. The pipes running down the middle of the car are 3", then down to 2 3/4" for the bends, and the "muffler eliminators" are 2 1/2".

I am running a full 3 inch custom mandrel bent exhaust with magnaflow 40 series mufflers. I can't imagine running with no muffler on the street, you better have ear plugs

There are pics of my exhaust at:

I have an 86 with the Hedman elite headers. The headers are 1 5/8 and go into a straight dual setup back to eliminators. I had Flowmasters on for awhile but my buddy gave me his stainless elims so I decided to try them. At idle and cruising they sound no louder than my Flowmasters did, but when you get on it they are loud. I think they are a little too loud so I am probably going to put some different mufflers on for next season. Good winter project.

A very wise Corvette mechanic once told me that your car shouln't sound any louder than the horsepower it's making. In other words, if you have a 250 hp car, it shouldn't sound like it has 750 hp. That is the ricer-fart-pipe philosophy. I have a co-worker with a 750 rwhp Mustang, but the car sounds almost stock. Needless to say, he suprises a lot of people with loud exhausts. Buy some hi-flow cats, bud!
