Default hidden remote?

I recently purchased a 95 and was trying to got a keyless remote programmed. But it won't go into the initialization mode. I have done the CCM DTC and got a 12 so that was good. I jumpered 8 to 5 on the DLC and got no activity on the PKE light. Before I remove the upper I/P trim pad, I am just curious, if it is possible that the previous owner left a remote in the car somewhere and that is what could be causing this.

When the PKE light is on and I walk up to the car with the an unprogrammed remote the light will go out.

Thanks in advance

I believe the PKE telltale lamp should be flashing waiting for an unprogrammed transmitter. It should go steady when a valid transmitter comes into range. (I'm doing this from memory right now.)

That is a possibility. Remove the seat cushion bottoms to see if there is one underneath. Use a flash light and look between the seat side and console. Stuff drops down in there and its practically impossible to retrieve unless you pull the whole seat out usually four bolts.

The PKE receiver is mounted in the center console under the radio unit. You won't need to remove the IP pad for this.

I'm making an assumption that pins 8 - 5 are for the PKE system diagnostics. One thing to check when it is in this mode is shaking the transmitter and reading the code it presents. These are functional checks while it is in this mode.
