Default Wheel size considerations....??

I'm interested in getting some 18" wheels and tires for my car. Or would 19's be too much to consider? Does anyone have pics? I have a friend with 18's on his Camaro, so we are going to swap someday to take a look see!! Cost probably goes way up on 19's also, am I right?

There have been a lot of comments on this! Most people on here would agree (I think) that 18s are about as big as you want to go on a C4...anything larger generally looks gaudy and out-of-place, but there may be a couple exceptions.

I agree. I wouldn't go any bigger that 18s. Here's my suggestion, Z06 wheels in your choice of finish (painted, polished or chrome) in the following sizes. Front 18x9.5" w/ 56mm offset and 275/35/18 tires. Rear 18x10.5" 58mm offset w/ 295/35/18 tires. This is only a suggestion as there are other packages that will work as well.

Is it also necessary to lower your Vette after installing 18" rims and tires, or do they "fill" the gaps well enough?

I lowered the rear about 1" to get rid of some of the space between the tire and the wheel well. For some reason this gap becomes more noticeable w/ 18" tires. The front I left alone. Now it has a nice rake to it and the tires appear to fill the gaps well enough.

I've got 18's on the rear and 17's on the front.

This falls into the realm of personal opinion/preference. The majority (but certainly not all of us) feel that 18's are the aesthetic limit.

If you had been checking what's available for your car, you would know the answer to this. Depends what your definition of "way up" is.

My opinion is that the only reason to go to 18 or 19 inch wheels is to clear larger brakes. Otherwise they serve no functional purpose.
It's like chrome wheels: all show, no go.
