The driver side windshield wiper on my `86 wants to flop clear of the edge of the windshield. I made sure that they were indexed correctly and put new blades on that were an inch or two shorter but it made no differance. Has anyone else had this problem???? Thanks
To adjust the sweep of thwe wipers, you need to remove the arms and rotate them over a "tooth". The base of the wipers installs over a gear shaped peg. Simply remove the wiper arms and rotate them over a tooth. Rinse and repeat as necessary. There is a retaining clip on the wiper arms you need to remove and not lose track of. Just takes a few minutes!
On my 87 there is a single larger tooth on the spline that fixes the position of the wiper arm. At the wiper motor there are individual adjustments that can be made by losening a couple of nuts on the connecting arms. Pull the little rectangular section out of the cowl screen above the wiper motor and you will see them.
My 86 has a large tooth that fixes the position or the wiper arm also. I wonder if they are from a different year of car?? Guess I will have to look for the adjustment on the wiper arm linkage like Rich mentioned.
