Somehow grease is getting slung up on the driver side of my white '94, i really dont know where its coming from either. It looked like scratches when i first noticed it, but when i rubbed on it smeared. My question is, whats the best thing to use to clean it off? Soap and water doesnt seem to work very well, because it smears the grease, and makes it worse. Plus i had to scrub very hard on it, which i didnt feel good doing, because i dont wanna mess the paint up. If anyone has any solutions to safely remove this crap from my car, i would appreciate it. Also if anyone has any clue where it might be coming from, that would definately help, i was thinking maybe the front wheel but there isnt any grease on the outside of the wheel itself.

My white VW gets the same thing all the time. (I think it runs over grease dropped from other vehicles...)
Here's how I deal with it:
Dawn dishwashing detergent will remove it, as will a little WD-40. You'll want to wash the WD-40 off with the Dawn, however, after which you might want to re-wax, just to be safe. I don't think Dawn does all that good a job removing modern car waxes/polishes, but the WD-40 might.

My car hasnt been waxed in the year that ive had it, i usually just wash it, thats probably why this grease is such a pain to get off. I tried Dawn the last time i washed it, and it kinda worked, just not that well. Like i said, i had to scrub pretty hard to get it most of the way off, i felt paranoid about scrubbin as hard as i was, but i didnt know how else to get it off. I was hopin someone had an easier solution, i guess i'll have to try my luck with the Dawn again, because my car needs washed bad, thanks for the suggestion.
Try Simple Green followed by a coat of wax.
I also read somewhere that if you take a sheet of "Bounce," and rub it on the surface, that it makes it hard for anything to stick to it.
A number of years ago I had a white car and commuted down I-95 to work. I was constantly picking up grease and crud from the road and flinging it on the body. They hadn't invented simple green yet.

I must be, because the last time i washed it there was grease on the passenger side, but it was way down low, this time its the drivers side and there was grease slung all the way up to the mirror. Thanks for the suggestions to my problem everyone, i'll probably try the simple green tomorrow.

I also drive to work on I-95 and use Simple Green and then re-wax.
This may seem silly, but.... have you armoralled your tires lately? If you have driven before it is dry, it will be slung onto the side of your car. It doesn't have to be armorall, it can be any type of tire dressing.
KEROSENE. Yep, it will remove the grease and tar without harming the paint. You will probably have a hard time finding it. Years ago I was up in the mountains fishing and came back to the car only to find that they had just oiled the roads! 20 miles back to the highway through fresh oil mixed with the dirt and sand of the road. This build up to over 1 inch in spots! Kerosene removed it all without having to scrub and didn't harm the paint. Removed the wax, so I did have to rewax.
