Whats the best way to remove the belt from the LT1? I cant get a socket on my tensioner cause of a crossmember. Do you guys normally use a ring spanner?? Thanks in advance

1.Use a box end wrench.
2.Get a serpentine belt tool from Sears.
3.I am a scotch guy so you can keep the beer.

I actually just did this last week. It makes it a lot easier if you take off the top alternator bolt and push it down just a little. It gives you the extra 1/4 inch you need to get the belt back on the last pulley. To loosen the tensioner, i just used a foot long wrench and a friend on the other side of the car to hold it for me while I worked on the belt.

Did this just 2 weeks ago. You have to use an box wrench on the tensioner and I used a socket extender over the wrench for a little extra leverage. You have to turn it as if you were tightening it and keep going... The tensioner will drop and the belt will come right off.

I welded a square headed pipe plug to an old jack handle and it fit between the tensioner and crossmember.

I use a wrench that has a swiveling socket attached permanently at one end, and an open end at the other end. The socket end gets the job done.
Be well,

In America it is just a regular wrench one end is opened and the other is circular.I am sure you you know what we mean. You will have to hang it down pretty low just below the crossmember to get enough lift but it will work.

The top couple are box wrenches the rest are combination wrenches (boxend /openend)
I just finished working on a friends car and have to clean my tools.
