Have a chance to buy another C4.A friend of mine has a 95' Cpe.that got 20" of water do to Hurrricane Katrina (A little lower than at the Rub Strip just over the sills.).I have a chance to buy it to restore it.What I need to know from you guys is what Items whould you guess would need replacing or drained etc. I know the obvious things like Rear end,Trans & Engine.Starter & Opti? What electrical stuff would I need. I can purchase it for his buy back price from the Insurance co.I think the Mufflers would have to be drained?Trying to get a cost of all the parts I would need.
Nearly everything electrical may need replacing, especially if saltwater was what got to it. I'd be primarily concerned with the engine first, spend your money and time there before worrying about the rest, just getting the engine to run will be an accomplishment.

The line at which the water came to is exactly where all the wiring is in the interior. i wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole .
About the electrical. Not to mention all of teh interior is going to have to be ripped out and replaced. You will never get that smell out of teh seats adn carpet... Even if you think you have, leave it closed up on a sunny day for awhile and you'll still smell it.
If you really want to take that on and the deal is good, go for it! Whatever makes you happy. Personally, I think I'd look elsewhere. Plenty of C4's in all sorts of price ranges around... you could have a nice one shipped to you and have less headaches...
nfw, man. You'll spend less on a nice non flood car than you will sorting all the problems out on a flood car. Even if you get it all working, you WILL have electrical gremlins that come back to haunt you. Buy what parts you want from the car and run.
You may want to get a new harness and fuse blocks, those will be the biggest issue. I have been there done that on this. after Hugo I bought a car that had been flooded and I had electrical problems for two years untill I ripped out the harness and fuse block and replaced them. If it where me I would take the chance and leve all the eletrical and just spray the heck out of it with contact cleaner. The big differnce between what I went through and your situation is that the flood waters for NO was freash water from the lake and not salt water from a storm surge.

After all the work and $$ expended, you'll still have a car with a salvage title. It might be a great learning experience to rebuild the car, but its a guaranteed money loser.
Do yourself a favor, send Bluewasp a PM telling him its his. If you get the car for free before you have a machine you can use and trust you will have far more invested than if you bought one outright. My bag is rebuilding lost causes but I would not take that one on.
I am an electrician. Water will turn copper green in a heartbeat. You will have to open and inspect every electrical plug and conection in the car. Probaly will have to replace most of it since by now they have already started to oxidized.
I'm looking for C4 track car. if you decide not to buy this car let me know.
thanks

It broke mt heart...I tried to buy it a year ago but the owner, a friend of mine, decided to keep it.It's Torch Red Black Leather,50K miles LT1, 6 Speed bone stock.
What would you offer on it?
No more then $1000.00. There is little there of value short of the rolling chassis.
Everything: Electrics, brakes, motor, transmission, differential, wheel bearings, etc, are suspect. They will all need to be serviced and cleaned. New Ujoints and perhaps bushings will be required. Lord knows what all got hit.
