Congrats on the nice ride. I do have a couple of questions for some of you "new" C4 owners. In your searches, why did you end up with a C4 instead of a C5? I don't want to start any arguments or what not, but just looking for straight input as to why.

I have yet to get to drive or even ride in a C4, but I have driven and ridden in a number of C5's (intake/heads/cam/exhaust '99 Coupe and '03 Z06) and have been impressed, but they are still kind of up there price wise. Then again, they are a number of years newer than the last C4, but the C4 is still a great looking car.

When I pick up a Corvette, it will be to drive regularly and do some modifications to. Just wondering what your intentions where prior to getting your C4 and why you went with the C4? (Sorry, don't mean to hijack your thread...)

For me I like the way they look, they have nice clean lines, and it was more affodable. What I wouldn't do for an '06 Z06 though.

Up here you can get a nice C4 for between 14 and 20 CAD. C5's and 6's are way out of the price range for me. Its also bang for the buck. At 300HP and considering the engineering it just makes sense.
I also like the styling better and hey, with a vortech you can easily get close to 400HP.

Yes, this is a definite consideration. If you find the right one, the pricing is definitely quite a bit less than a C5. Maybe about a Supercharger or heads/cam/headers/exhaust cheaper - at least...

Although I already know some about corvettes through owning two, I do a lot of reading about them for research. There is a magazine called "grassroots motorsports" that I faithfully read. They are doing a C4 buildup right now and are a good source for info.
Its funny that they talk about the same things you guys do, alternators, front hubs etc. I read about you guys talking about major problems with running too hot. Apparently C4's are tuned to run around 225 degrees for emisions reasons and that causes a lot of the problem more than restrictions for air. They also offer up a solution for that.
Anyway a good source magazine and I'm still looking for more reading sources.
