My power locks on my 90 Vette dont work. Neither right or left side.
I already checked the fuse, and it's good.
Any clue what I should check first? Something that would affect both sides?
BTW, I bought the car a couple of months ago, and it was always like this.
Also, the "Fasten Seatbelt" light on my dash is on all the time. Anyone know how to check this.
And finally, is there any way to turn off that stupid "One-To-Four" shift requirement for a 6-speed transmission?
Door locks? Check to be sure both switches are attached and good.
Seatbelt light? There are wires that go to the seatbelt anchor. Check to be sure they are ok.
Skip shift? Get under the car and unplug it. One harness is for the backup lights, the other for CAGS. The CAGS one is in the middle near the shifter, kinda high up.
Remove the DS power lock switch, remove it from the socket and check the terminals. Jumper power & ground to the motor to see if it is working.
If you run your hand down between the driver's seat and the console carpet you will find the wire that goes to the seat belt. See if the connector is open. You could just jumper the connector to keep the light off.
The RH switch carries the Gnd path for both switches but the LH switch carries Gnd & power to the motors when either switch is activated, so bad contacts at either switch could cause neither to function.
OK. I finally got around to removing the power-lock switches as suggested (now that finals are over...).
Both switches seemed to have good contact with the wires.
So I was going to try to jump the power to ground as suggested. Now, how do I know which wire is which?
