Sounds good, but boy does it add some clutter to the engine bay. Might be worth looking into none-the-less.

I still have my original opti with 120k. I cant justify 700 on this vs. 250 on the regular one unless it is gonna give me some extra power.

I got a price of $385 for a new Opti spark and was told to replace the distributor cap and rotor while I was down there which is another $270 and new plug wireswhich is $45 everything is original so If I'm down there I might as well replace it all. I found the Opti direct for $600 from one of there dealers and it comes with everything, they said I could just leave the optispark there and hook this up.

Be careful of after market products though. Even though this item is not entirely constructed to the highest standards, I's still trust the OEM over aftermaker, just because of the hasle it is to replace it.

Ripped before you start working on your car you need to do some more searches and reading here.Depending on what is wrong with your opti a Delteq may or may not work.If you have codes that show an opti problem it WILL NOT work.It still uses the optical feedback from the opti to trigger it.It is not a replacement for the opti.92-94 Optis are more expensive than the better 95-96 style(GenII).I have a Dynaspark in my car that is better than either OEM style IMHO.Unfortunatley they wont be building any till January from what I read recently.Make sure you check in here before you waste money we will try and keep your costs down.

Bought 1 about 2 weeks ago $255+10 shipping. Sam Taylor Buick, Ft Walton Bch, FL 877-726-8295.

Get the Fel-Pro timing cover gasket kit from autozone $7.99. It has the seals for the cam & water pump shaft, as well as the 2 pump gaskets.

So who told you that the Opti is your problem? It might help if you at least mention the year of your car when asking for help.I think you need to post some history of your car and when it started running bad and the symptoms that it shows.Do you have a factory service manual?Your gonna need it. If you are doing it yourself you need to search for posts on how to do it but as I said it might not even be the opti. You can throw money at these cars if you want but it is better if you actually describe what brought you here in the first place.Always replace the Water Pump when doing an opti and mabey seals.Do you know what your getting yourself into here?Alot of time and money for sure.

Redeasysport,
Great pictures you have on the modified opti cap and the waterpump. Just what I was looking for. Have you had success with the line from the weephole and where did you run it too?

I didnt say it was 250 everywhere for eveyone but do a little searching and you can usually find one in between 250 and 300. Even four hundred i still cant justify an extra 300-400 unless its gonna give me extra power.

It is a 93 LT1 It all started when I decided to do a burnout (I'm a moron I know) after that there was a knocking sound and loss of power when I took off again everytime it knocks I lose power. I have been doing alot of research on this and that is the best conclusion I could come up with. I have no problem working on the car myself I just wanted some opinions before I started purchasing costly parts. I will be ordering a new Optispark, wires and a water pump today and if I need a cap and rotor I will buy them when the car is dissasembled.

I completley understand the rep just told me that this would get rid of the Opti spark all together. With the trouble that the Optispark has given lots of people I thought it might be worth the extra dough. I am going the OEM way though I think it is probably best.

Don't think it is your Opti. The knock sensor is retarding your timing when it hears a knock. The Opti does not cause knocks rods do I fear that you have damaged the engine .I would not waste your money till you find out why it knocks. An opti will cause a miss if the cap&rotor is bad or will quit all togther if a code 16 or 36 occurs. The codes indicate an optical pick up problem.I would take it to a shop for engine diagnosis but I am sure you will not like what they say.Sounds like it is time for a 383 upgrade.Get a Helm Factory Service Manual it is the best $100 you will spend on your car.Good luck

I drove it all day saturday and it didn't knock or anything I got on the gas a little too and then I drove on sunday and there it is. it has 90,000 miles on it so I just shut off and put it in the garage. If it was the rods wouldn't it kncok all the time?
