Default Power Programmers Good?

I have a 1996 LT4 with an open airbox and corsa exhaust. I was curious. Are LTx power programmers worth the money? Do they make a bit of difference in gains. Plus im going eventually throw in my LT4 hotcam and exotic muscle headers....so should I invest in the programmer? (sorry in advance...I meant to put this in tech...tired morning)

I think you'd be better off waiting until you get the hotcam & headers done. Then send your PCM to www.pcmforless.com and have Bryan (he does the OBD2's) do a custom tune for you.The power programmer (Hypertech etc...I assume you mean) will not allow for the adjustments that a tune will and if you want to get the most from your mods, a custom tune is the way to go. Don't quote me on this one BUT, I believe that a mail order tune is cheaper than the power programmer and you'll get a heck of a lot more out of it.

Maybe Alvin will chime in on this one...

For what you are planning...save your money.

Once you get all the goodies in the car, take it to someone who tunes cars and have them dyno tune it with LT Edit or TunerCat.

Hypertechs are only good for stock cars...they expect stock parts in the car...and since you won't have that...the programmer is useless to you.

If you have someone in the area that can tune it for you...if they know what they are doing you only do it once...
