Well i decided to give Shell Vpower gas 93oct a chance so last week i filled the tank...i did not change my driving habbits whats so ever..and now i am up to 20.4mpg
Discusss....

Did you happen to have a tail wind last week when you ordinarily had a head wind?
Not trying to say that you didn't get an increase, rather that you would really need to qualify it with more data, long term averages mean a lot more than short term.

23 mpg from California to Alabama. Average 76 mph 92/93 octane fuel. Whatever brand was along the way.
New rotor, cap, plugs, wires, synthetic Mobile 1, remove and clean injectors, proper air in tires, clean tb, clean iac, gut air pump and remove hoses, TB coolant line bypass, new air filter, clean EGR valve
28 mpg interstate at 76 mph average.
24 mpg town.
Fuel - regular 87 octane - whatever brand is cheap (usually Race Trac)
Obviously going from premium to regular did the trick.
You would need to drive to the same places, the same time, in the same weather conditions, etc., numerous times, before you can come to the conclusion that it was the gas that increased your mileage.

6speed?
Didnt the ZF 6 speed come out in 89? Or did you do a swap?
4+3 went out on the previous owner and he swapped it rather than trying to rebuild.
Gas comes from one distributor is right but additives are put in depending on the station. Additives and exact fuel octane can vary which will cause small differences in fuel mileage. However, daily driving cannot accurately measure the difference since there are too many variables in daily driving. For example - on the last tank you were stopped by 400 redlights and on the next tank you only got stopped by 350 redlights that would make a difference due to the extra acceleration. Did you climb the same hill to and from the house exactly 50 times on both tanks. Etc.......
