I installed a new radiator in my 87 this week. i did flush the cooling system twice with BG cooling system flush, everything looked real clean except for the purge tank, it had a lot of sludge in it. I took a handfull of small ball bearings and a few taper bearings, put some dish washing soap and some water in the tank and shook it around for a bit and it came out real clean, i had thought i was going to have to buy a new one, this worked!
I am not sure where i got the idea to do this, but i must have heard about it somewhere.
