Over the summer here I kept hearing how some of you guys got to take your car out on a actual circut track.....Play follow the leader with a pace car...Which tracks allow you to do that and when is the best time to do so? Anyone have any good info on this? Thanks...HOOBS
Well I don't know how far you're willing to drive, but out here near Seattle we have a great place where instead of following some pace car around in a circle there is a GP race course and a driving school which allows you to take your car out onto the track and (with an instructor in your car with you throughout the day) you can see just how hot you can lap.
That's me in the first pic in one of the morning sessions. The second pic is a group photo of all the cars that were at the track that particular day. My Vette is in the 2nd row 2nd from the right just behind the red enzo.
Portland International Raceway in Portland, OR has several opportunities to get on the track and I don't mean to just follow a pace car. There are several racing clubs ,(Team Continential, Cascade car club) that hold driver training sessions several times a year. You can check their web sites for the dates. Just do a google search for the web site. SCCA also holds driver schools around the country. You can also check car clubs, (Rose City Corvettes, Porsche, BMW, etc.) They all hold track days at PIR. For some of them, you need not be a member. I'm sure Seattle has some as well. There used to be a beautiful track in Vancouver, Canada called Westwood. It was the only track I have ever been on that also had an animal flag. I remember one race where a bear came out of the woods and caused all the turn workers to run. The race was red flagged. Just look around. You will find a place to have fun on.

Atlanta Motor Speedway is the track guys were talking about just recently. They have a breast cancer benefit every year for Vettes only. I'd like to try and do it next year.
