Was detailing the engine bay of my 96 CE (owned for 3 months now) and notice that my Driver's side Wheel Well/Splash Guard is damaged. Not sure if this was there when I bought it or if this is a result of a raccoon/96 CE showdown the night I bought it. You can imagine my suprise to find this and that I didn't notice it earlier. Anyway, I have a couple of questions:
1. Where is the best place to buy a new one?
2. How much?
3. And the fastners that hold this in place have a unique pattern that I am not sure where to find the tool to remove them. I will try to post a pic of these fastners later, but if anyone has experience with them I am all ears.
After checking my helms the front wheelhouse upper panel is riveted, so you'll have to drill them out! (figure 6 on page 10-5-5)

I was hoping that they were not rivets Oh well! Does the Helms Manual give any detail about drilling them out and what type of rivets to put back in when installing the new wheelhouse? I don't have a Helms manual so I am flying blind here.
I have a single wheel well for $50 if you want it. It is in great condition. It may not have ever been mounted on a car. I have a full set for a convertible, most of it NOS but I cant tell the difference by looking.

Thanks a bunch for the input.
That is a big negative the only mention of the wheelhouse upper panel I see is the picture. I bet that GM still carries the rivets.

Chevy Parts counter for wheel well pieces. Some of the torx screws, (bolts), are not available. Re-finish your old ones, wire rotary, clean with thinner, prime, paint. Semi-gloss black will be a good match.
If you get a new piece, it is gray, you will have to paint it.
You can also get an exact match for painting the wheel wells, etc., at www.eastwood.com. GM chassis black.

New peices are NOT grey. Although I out of the ten or so I have bought for the C4 over the years I did get ONE grey, but it was an error (bad batch or european version).

What color did you get? This just made me make a trip to the attic. I have a few pieces of everything up there. Is this gray? Looks like it to me. I did a C4 for a guy a while back, he bought the parts and paid me in parts and cash.

That is the same color as the oddball peice I got. I didnt accept it at the gm counter and they reordered the SAME part number and it came in again in black. I even ask Gordon Killebrew about it and he said he didnt recall EVER seeing a grey one like you have pictured (or the one I got). It is a mystery to me, I would like to know if anyone has the answer!
Thanks for your feedback...I really appreciate it. I hope that when I order mine I get black and not gray!
boatman,
As far as the rivets and/or torx screws...I am still trying to figure that one out as I don't know for sure what I have. From aboutguy's post it seems they may be rivets, which I will have to drill out and replace with new. I tried to take a picture of the fasteners, but my digital camera wouldn't let me take a close up pic with the right focus to allow anyone to really see what they look like.

Rick - Let us know what you get on the inner fender pieces.
Thanks,
Well, I stopped off at the local GM Dealership and ordered the Wheel Wells today....notice I say Wheel Wells as in plural. I figured I better go ahead and buy both sides that way the will match. They were around $69/side. I also ordered the Rivets I need to fasten them to the hood.
Anyone have a p/n on the type of Rivet Gun I will need?
I bet it takes a regular old pop rivet gun. Mine has a plethora of dies to fit various diameter pins(the nail that breaks expanding the rivet) If you don't already have a rivet gun wait until you have the rivets in hand so that you can get a gun that fits.
With all of the folks stating that their fender well is held on by torx it makes me wonder what year GM changed to rivets?

Picked-up the Wheel Wells today from the local GM Dealership.....they were black and NOT gray. Installed them tonight with the help of a friend....all is good!
