Do I need a remote for a '94 convertible? It only has one set of keys and no remote. I remember with my '96 that it had a remove to lock/unlock the doors and pop the hatch. It was annoying when the doors would unlock if the keys were in my pocket and I walked by it. I don't want to go through that with this '94 and would rather just settle with the keys.
But, I'm not sure if the remote came standard. If it did, should I get a replacement?
My '94 I bought this fall did not come with a remote either. I guess people lose them or they quit working. Anyway, I picked one up on ebay for about half of what the catalogs charge and it works great!
Yes, your car has it. But the only way to be SURE it works is with the remote key fob. If you don't like the passive entry feature, you can disarm it and you'll have a remote for locking and unlocking the doors. Seems worth the price of a remote to me just for that feature.
Check out this thread. It answered lots of my questions.
I would try "matching transmitter to your vehicle", if you haven't already. I think that's what mine was doing out of the box. If you are not sure how, refer to the thread posted above.
