I have a 1993 Coupe with all available options and wanted to know if the value of the car is in line with NADA. I have 49K miles and is in immaculate condition. Wanted to get feedback on the value of the car. Would it be safe to say that NADA value of $15,200 is accurate? A friend of mine in a vette club thought NADA was a bit low and I would be able to get a bit more.

Prices can vary by $5000, but you can figure that is fairly accurate.
If you want to SELL it, and someone offers you $15K...take it.
(You can buy nice...not perfect, but nice... '95's and '96's for $15K.) If yours had 20K miles on it instead of almost 50K, it might..eventually...go for $15.
If you just want an idea of the value, then you have the authority to set any value you want on the car. What IS its value...to YOU?
How much did you pay for it and when? That should give you a rough estimate of what it was worth then...now, just subtract for the additional miles and months/years...
I think you are quoting the "High Retail" price which NADA describes as follows:
High Retail Value
A high retail vehicle should be in flawless condition. All power equipment should be functional. The paint should match and have a high gloss finish. The carpet and seat upholstery should be clean and have minimal wear. The engine should start quickly and run smoothly. The tires should be like new with a spare and jack. The mileage should be significantly below the acceptable mileage range for the model year.
A high retail vehicle on a dealer lot should be fully reconditioned and is likely to include a warranty, guarantee or manufacturer certification and current safety and/or emission inspection (where applicable).[COLOR=Navy]
8 months ago I paid "Low Retail" for my '93 and may have overpaid a bit. It was in very good to excellent condition, one owner, etc. I have no complaints.
I would say "Average Retail" is about the best a private party would see, and that is for a cherry example.
For your Vette that's $14K.
Also, check completed auctions on EBAY and look for the green prices (they're actually completed deals). Not a bad reference point.
If you read every post on the value of Vettes in here most people talk about how they bought a perfect car for $9,000.00. Don't ask anybody to sell there car for that though. Start high and find out what it is worth. The worst feeling is to have someone gladly giv eyou what you asked, that means it's too low!!
Your profile doesn't say where you live, but "where" is a major determining factor in value / price. Check your local paper and car sales venues to see comparables for the most realistic "value".
NADA and KBB are typically high, in my experience. In my area (Northwest) the average '93s go for a lot less than you're talking about. I bought my '93 'vert (CY, 60k, 6-sp, nearly every option) for $15.5k three years ago. That combination has lots of "hot items" appeal, and I thought it was just an average deal.
What is being asked vs. what is being paid are often two very different numbers. Remember, we all LOVE these cars, and our personal vehicles have tons of emotional value to us. When we're buying one we look for the best price possible, and don't feel bad about 'stealing' one when we get the chance. Good luck, whatever you do, and enjoy it while you've got it.
I just sold my 92 fully optioned 6 speed coupe with 16K miles on it for 19K. It was like new inside and out right down to the tires. The new owner is happy with the deal and so am I. (Bought a 95 ZR1)
I paid $15,500 for my '93 four years ago with 36,000 on it. Today with all the upgrades I've done to it and with 44,000 it's worth a high of probably $12,000. But if someone offered me $10,000, I'd think about it hard.
Thanks for all the information. I have a better idea of what my car is worth. It is funny, it seems like each person thinks their car is the "one" and maybe too much emotion goes into the car. My vette has every option available including the sport suspension package and from the South it seems like people put a premium on the car because of the nice weather (Tampa, FL). I had a guy at my local parts store ask me if I would be willing to sell my car and wanted to get a better idea of what it is worth. Thanks again.
I bought a vette this month and I noticed many people state that their car is loaded or has all the options and not a single one did. All the options would have leather sport seats, Z07 suspension, low tire pressure warning, selective ride control, transparent roof, electronic AC, and AM FM Cassette CD. I was lucky to find one with the options I wanted at a fair price, personally, I think you will have a hard time getting $15k unless you are in the right place at the right time. But you should start there and the worse that can happen is you keep it, right? Out of curiousity what options does your car have?
features: leather sport seats, dual power seats, low tire pressure warning, selective ride control, transparent roof, hard roof, electronic climate control AC, and Bose AM FM Cassette.
I think the C-4's are going to be worth more than the C-5's in ten years. There is no way I would trade or buy a C-5 today.
Why get a slower car with a big butt?
