Default idle and LT-4 Conversion questions...

Hello. First of all, my vette seems to be idiling a little too "violent" for me. What I mean is, the idle isn't as smooth as I'd like. Does this just mean I need cap, wires, and plugs? Or any other suggestions might be helpful. I have not done this "tune up" yet. My car now has 106,600 on it.

Is $1494 a good deal for these gm parts needed for an LT-4 conversion???? This price does NOT include shipping.

2 Cylinder Heads P/N 12363287

1 Intake Manifold P/N 12550630

1 GM Performance Parts LT4 Hot Cam P/N 24502586

1 1.6:1 Aluminum Roller Rocker Arm kit P/N 12370839

2 Head Gaskets P/N 12551488

2 Intake Gaskets P/N 12367777

1 Front Timing Cover Gasket P/N 10128293

1 Water Pump Seal P/N 10217886

1 Front Crankshaft Seal P/N 10128316

1 Oil Pan Gasket P/N 10108676

2 Valve Cover Gaskets P/N 10108625

2 Exhaust Gaskets P/N 12552470

Also includes: 1 Distributor Seal(1995-1997 cars) P/N 12552428

Thanks in advance.

Hogan, PM me and I can steer you in the right direction. This is not a special. But the price seems excellent.

Longhorn, 1995 with the 3.07 automatic and a LT1.

You have the same combo as me.... But I'll have to wait til I find a job.

I have seen the conversions go for around $2300.

*bump* and here is the story on that conversion for $1494...

there is a chevy parts site (they are not a sponsor) and they sell genuine parts. if you put these parts in to order the whole order is around 1494. Not bad! I am not sure how much shipping is though...

That's a great deal especially if you have the skills to do the upgrade yourself.

Thanks! But does anyone have any information about my idle? Does my car probably just need a tune up?

I have a good friend from Louisiana. I bet he could do the work. I might have to pay him some $. I am not sure. He might just do it for me because he loves cars.

There are many things that could be causing a rough idle including a dirty TB. Get a can of TB cleaner and try that first. That's by far the best price I've ever seen for the LT4 conversion. People are going to want to know where it's available for that.

I agree with the kid there are many things that will cause a rough idle. Is it throwing codes?

Thanks for replying to my pm about the $1500 LT1 to LT4 conversion.
However, to end the salivatation, I put your PNs into the site with the requisite number of parts for my needs (there some parts on your list that I don't need) and I was at 2107.28 without the 20% service charge. The heads are 650 a pop and the intake is 227.56 which is about right. So I guess there is no free lunch.

Mike

I am so sorry guys! When doing my figuring...I didn't put in TWO cylinder heads. Unfortuantely, these heads are $650 A PIECE. I feel like an idiot now. And with the $650 plus the 1494...that equals over 2k. I apologize.
