all right, i know this might be kinda ghetto but what are the thoughts on "mudflaps"
I'm repainting this winter and as I look my baby over, the undersides are taking beating from the road. anyone have "paint protectors" on and how do they look.
I'm not talking about the hangy down rubber things with Yosemite Sam on them. Looking for a nice molded plastic that doesnt stand out at all.

I installed the clear plastic "flaps" on all four corners. They collect most of the crap headed for the paint. Don't look too bad. Better than most. After checking around, those plastic films that are suppose to stick to the paint? JUNK! Fly off at any speed.

I dunno. I saw alot of C5s at road america with that on. And I've heard good things about it from other people, but never tried it personally. The big thing I'd look for is make sure its "3M" and not some knock-off.

My '95 is white. Right after I bought it, I spent 4 hours cleaning the rocker panels. Then I put a set on from MidAmerica. They don't really stand out enough to notice that they're on. They come pre-drilled, and fit good, but don't use your original torx fasteners(the smaller ones) like the directions say, use the fasteners the send in the set. That will save some time and frustration.

Which ones are yo referring to? The Altec or the flat type? Pictures would be helpful.

Some of you guys don't realize that some of us need the flaps to protect our paint. It's not necessarily my first choice to have them on our vehicles, but the other choice is to ruin the paint job.
i was definately thinking the altec molded if i did it. from what I understand they're paintable and i could shoot them when we shoot the car. my Verts black so they wont stand out that much.
I've seen a lot "sillier" exterior mods that really serve no purpose so i dont think this is too horrible an idea.
If anyone has pics that would be great!

Mojos' second post is of the Altecs. I've seen pictures of these painted body color and they look, really as good as it gets. Those are the ones that I will probably buy myself.

I have the MA smoke lexan ones on my car(look at my pics). They are unobtrusive and I like them.We have lots of slag on the roads for the next 4mo around here and I do not want my paint sandblasted. If I lived in Florida or Cali I would not use them but All my cars have them here.
We auto-x the car a lot and have to have them. The sticky tires throw up any little grit from the track. It's like sandblasting the car. Got the black ones from Eckler's. Pre-drilled and they fit fine. Black on a Black Rose car. Can't even really see them.

When the vette was being rebuilt I ordered front and rears from Corvette Central. Then I decided to go with a 91 rear ( like the tail lights) and of course 84 rears don't fit 91 rears. The 91 replacements just came yesterday (will install in spring and paint all 4 to match ) but so far no stone chips in front .
Just my thoughts LOL .... when I here mud flaps, I think of 4x4's that are too high off the ground to make a difference where the mud goes and 18 wheelers.
