Default engine internals....threadlock

Is threadlock a good idea when bolting things back up whether or not its internal (moving parts) or outside the engine. Or are the torque specs adequate enough.I just can't justify 21 ft. lbs. is enough to hold down the camshaft sprocket...

I use it on things like that too, in many cases. Especially, if like you say, the torque spec seems barely adequate.

Torque is a conversion of stretch. If torqued properly, in theory, it cannot loosen. I admit, cam sprocket, lifter spider and cam retaining plate are locktited on my stuff.

Default sure use it

the force on a cam sprocket is a sideways motion very unlikely it will come loose but you can use loc-tite..can't hurt
