Default How do you remove stuck 90 mufflers?

I have a 90 with the factory mufflers on. I want to take them off. I removed the clamp holding the mufflers on the pipe and beat on them with a rubber mallet but they would not budge. Any ideas before I go to a muffler shop?

You're not going to get those 15 year old mufflers off with a rubber hammer. You can either use oxy/acetelne, a cut-off wheel run off your aircompressor, or a chisel and cut the pipes. If you don't have any of the above I would head to the muffler shop.

I agree, heat 'em or cut 'em. The muffler shop can do it so much faster. I tried taking factory muffs off my 85 and I ended up going to the shop.

or you can go to your local parts house and buy a new y pipe for 125.00 and keep the old ones for future use if you get tired of the loud ones, jus a thought.

What local parts houses carry corvette exhaust parts, ie the Y pipe, besides having to order from places like Mid America?
