If you caught it in time, nothing...

If you ran it like this for a long time, warped heads, blown head gaskets and other nice things may have occured

How long did it run at that temp? May want to change the oil. Just a thought.

Take care of your water pump issue and then fire the car back up - see how it reacts then. You will know real quick if a head is warped / gasket blown

My TA - an L98 went that high, or higher on the 14th st bridge in Wash. DC 4th of July a few years ago - no issues other than the split sidetanks on the radiator

Check your oil before and after you fire it up.

I would definately change the oil. From what I've read, getting oil above about 250 has an immediate deteriorating effect on it.

Mine got up there but not as high when I was stuck at an intersection/redlight for 22 minutes. The car overheated, pulled off quickly and let the engine cool off. Changed the oil and coolant the following day. No damage.

I would do a cylinder leak down test before starting or putting water back in it.

Default Coolant Temperature shoots very high

It happens to my C4 periodically still, after i checked almost everything and brought my C4 to a dealer. Now, what i learn is 2 things: First, you need to turn on the AC fan. It really helps to lower the temperature, someone on this forum mentioned to me that C4 has a chip that sets at certain level so at certain speed the fan doesnt turn on (my experience tells me if i drive below 30mph, i do need to turn on the AC fan). Second, check the coolant fluid.

Hope it help
