Don't mean to be a jerk here, but the guy is going to pull the shocks off the Z06 anyway, right?
So, have him remove one front (8 minutes) and one rear shock (10 minutes) from the C4 and compare.
This forum is a precious resource, especially for answers that you can't find anyplace else. You are a good friend for offering to same him a few minutes, but come ON... he can answer his own question with a little effort.
Other than that, you may have have to be patient until someone reads your post who has done/tried it.

I've been watching this thread wondering about it myself. I would guess they will fit, the suspension is similar. Give it a try. I replaced my C4 shocks (all 4) in about 3 hours with no help, one jack and a set of jack stands, and I'm no mechanic. It is just a really easy job. I have not done my C5 though.
