Top Speed.....
However, this was not on the I25 between COS and Pueblo, speeding on the I25 late at night when there is a dearth of traffic would be wrong!
I really dont need anyone to tell me that that was breaking the traffic laws. I know that & had something happened to me or my car, or both, thats my cross to bare. I have been driving for 23 years & held, for 10 of them, & still hold a class A license. In the time I have been driving I have seen 100+ less than 10 times on a public roadway. Most of the 10 I was a teenager, which answers why I did it in the first place.
Like most of you, I am very intimate with the condition & workings of my Vette. My tires & brakes are brand new & everything is in excellent working order. No that doesnt make it ok, but, for the PC crowd here, you should sleep well knowing that I dont do this on a regular basis at all, & when I do, its under the safest conditions & never involves other people on the roadway.
I would have answered my own post here alot earlier, however I was in NY visiting my family for Christmas.
And one more thing, street racing by any modern standard is nothing like what I just explained. Todays moronic kids race thier Japaneese pieces of crap right down the middle of business district areas, & have a total of 2 years driving experience, & to top it off, have NO knowledge of thier cars condition or its limitations. To compare the two is idiotic.
Have a great evening
As stated, 6th is too steep to overcome. For that matter, a Viper, with the same basic gearing, can't overcome that much overdrive.
A POS 4 cylinder BMW I had would always run easy as soon as I hit western Kansas, but I never tried a top speed run with it out there. The 4 cylinder Toyota pickup I had couldn't keep up with traffic at 6000 feet. I'd really like to know how my Vette would respond to the thin air.

But my real question is which is more important in effect, the loss of power or the lower drag. My guess would be the lower drag would boost the top speed potential of a Vette, since the drag increases by the square and not linearly.
But here was my top speed rice run when my cajones were a lot bigger.
