Default powder coat headers

Anyone know what temperatures exhaust headers can reach? I want to coat my new SW headers and was toldto powder coat. A local company can do both for $100 but he wants me to find out what temperatures they get. He said the coating can resist 400 degrees.

Not sure, but they go way over 400 degrees. Sometimes you can see them glow red.

Many companies out there that do headers, but one of the older ones is JetHot. Not sure of their website, but you might just ck with them. I think 400 is way too low.

You need a high temperature coating not a powder coating for the exhaust. Preferably a ceramic coating.

yeah I figured they would need a ceramic coating. I just can't find anyone in RI to do so.

Try AirBorn coatings in East Hartford Ct. They have done many sets for me, and they aren't that far from you. Their # is 860-528-8281. Great people!!!

Yep, 'used them too.

Had them coat some old pipes off my "Luftmiester" turbo BMW bike. Came out nice considering how rough shape they were.

You should not powder coat headers, companies like Jet Hot, HPC Airborne and Nitro plating all have coating for exhaust that start at 1300 degrees.
