Default Finding block numbers

I recently bought a 1984 Vette and once I started to clean up the engine and fix the problems I ran into a snag. Nothing that I go get fits. The engine says Tuned Port and I have a few numbers I found off the block but this doesnt seem to be the engine that came with the car. I need to find out what I got in here so I can order somes of the "right" parts.

These are the only number I can find as of now.
V1212 DDG
L105
And a big 5 on the rear Drivers side corner
If anyone can help please let me know.

On the rear of the block by the distributor usualy drivers side you will see some #'s. If they are difficult to read rub them with a piece of aluminum foil. The foil will rub off on the #'s and make them easy to read. Then go to www.mortec.com, look up your block #. It will give you year manufactured,# of main bolts etc. Good info on that site. Hope this helps

Bagdcougar,

'84 vettes came equipped with cross-fire, not a multiport tuned injection (You said yours said "multiport" on the engine). Someone may have done an engine swap. Does it have two throttle bodies on the manifold, or a plenum?

Pete

OK I got some pics and maybe an answer. I think someone may have changed the pulleys on this motor and the water pump. I found that a Chevy truck water pump was the exact one that was put on it and it looks nothing like the one that is suppose to be on it. I should have the engine out in a few days so i can check the numbers on the block.

Thats TPI allright. That was not what 84's came with. 84's came with crossfire injection, which has a large square aircleaner on top the the twin throttlebodies that resemble Caburators. So one of two things either you have the engine from a newer model, or someone swaped out the F.I system. That why the parts are wrong, You need to ask for parts for a 85-91 Vette.

Don't want to be pushy, but are you sure it's a 1984 and not just built in 1984?
