Default Auto LT1's, what rpm does it shift at WOT?

My '93 Convertible (THM700R4) shifts at 5,000 rpm for first, second, and I haven't tried third yet but $100 it's 5,000 rpm. My friend's '94 (4L60e) shifts some what mid way of the shaded area. When we raced I was beating him until my tranny shifted into second. I've adjusted my throttle cable but my tranny cable is scary. I don't want to hit my rev limiter.

Mine shifts at 6,500 RPM's :D
I don't want to take it to high till I get the stock trans rebuilt.

The analog dash tach is somewhat off... They can show +/- 500 RPM from posts I've seen... Using a data logger at the track my electronic transmission shifts at about 5700 RPM... The tach itself shows it hitting the 6K mark though...

Your car shifts according to the TV cable to the transmission, if it's shifting that early then it's probably out of adjustment...

Raysur,
I have the same problem. Mine was shifting at 4800. I tried to set it as the manual says by using a torque wrench, 1/8 in drill bit, etc. and it still shifted at 4800 to 4900 rpm. I then tightened it down a couple more clicks and it is up to 5000 to 5100. I wonder if the cable itself has streched and needs replaced? I dont believe that my tach is off, because when I hold first gear I can go to 5700 and then shift. It dosent hit the rev limiter until 5800 to 5900 on my tach.

Yeah, I know my tach is somewhat accurate because I have manually shifted my car up there. It sounded different because my car never went to those rpm's before. There was supposed to be an easier way of adjusted the t.v. cable, but I ran into some differences.

6,500rpm  ,
How did you manage that Mackey ?

I took my stock LT1 to 6,000. My new package still makes power to 7,200 but the trans has 95,000 on it, stock without even a shift kit, so I don't think it will takes shifts that high.
Give Cartek a call they'll tell how they make that king of power with a stock bottom end.

My tach is showing me passing the 6k mark so I hope it is off. I set the shifts for around 6050 and the limiter at 6300 and it is not hitting it so I think I'm safe. The 4L60E is definetly a better tranny than my 93's 700R4, shifting wise and accuracy. The 700 is all over the place where the 4L60 is on the money every shift! Maybe it just feels better because I have the G92 in this one but you never know!! Good Luck!

Mine also shows it shifting at or just a little over 6,000 rpm.
