Default Steering wheel replacement?

Just curious. What after market steering wheel would fit my 92? I don't care about retaining the air bag, I just want a different design.

pretty much for all of them you have to buy a steering wheel adapter, and a teloscopic one at that. I believe $80 ish.

If i were to buy one, it would probably be this, and you have to get a Grant wheel with this.

Personally, I wouldn't go with anything but a MOMO or a Sparco.

If anyone knows of a way to kill the 'airbag' light on the C4's let me know...I don't feel like experimenting with that stuff.

My first guess is a simple resistance check, but it could be more complicated. A buddy of my used to race cavies, so he'd set off his share of old airbags. Maybe I could get an exploded one to see how the guts are set up. I guess if you set them upside down on the concrete, the fly pretty high in the air.
One thing I thought of is take the bulb out, or be sneaky and take the bulb out, burn it out, and put it back in.

I wonder if you could put it under the passenger seat and make a James Bond ejector seat.....hmmm..

when you replace the wheel is there a problem with the horn as well? and...is it difficult to remove the airbags? do i need to wear a body protection kit incase they blow?,,,

While I don't mind some levity, I do give airbags mucho respect and my undivided attention. I disco the battery start taking some of the parts out to get at the bag, but I like to give the system 30 seconds or so to drain voltage out before actually unplugging the airbag. The plug should be under the dash and very well marked with a pretty fancy locked-together connector.
Other than that, I keep my face a good distance back and I try not to let the metal back place get pointed toward my face.

Yeah, if you really don't like someone, you could pull the cover off their steering wheel, fill it up with BB's, and put it back on...... (J/K, DON'T do that. )

Also, store them metal plate side down. I do not know the best temperature/humidity places to store them, but where ever they get put try to keep them out of the reach of kids. I guess they are worth alot of money, so you might be able to sell ones you don't want to risk saving. I even heard people steal them to sell them.

Anyway, this is why I stopped back. I didn't see Corvette listed, but the fact that they are coming out with air bag dummy plugs gives me hope.

Oh...forgot about the horn Q. Yes, I think almost all, if not all, aftermarket wheels have a horn button. I think its pretty much standard for a car to have one wire to ground a horn relay. There is not much reason to make a horn work any other way, so its pretty universal. Although, I do think some of the cheaper wheels out there don't have as good of an electrical connection system as a better wheel might.

Although I don't think its happened yet, I wouldn't be surprised if at sometime in the future you could even buy an aftermarket airbag wheel if you wanted to spend the money.

Yah, I know, I know. I think I just get a thrill out of trying fool systems designed to "babysit" me. Its kinda like I bought that fancy CAGS bypass when I could just unplug it and put a piece of electrical tape over the SES light. »keith

no problem, I took an airbag out when "repairing" the VATS on my '93 formula.
I also forgot that there is a ribon cable in there that allows the electrical connection & lets the wheel turn. Since, at the time, I was putting the airbag back in, I was carefull not to turn the steering at all, or play with that ribbon, while I had everything apart.

That was my first thought, but I didn't think putting a small current through the airbag (to get an ohms reading) was wise. It may work, or it may set the bag off.
So far, I've just been ignoring the light, but I'm rather **** about my Corvette...and would like to correct it.
