Also if you need any help with those ricers don't bother to ask. I wouldn't mind tag teaming them to show them what a real car is.

Well, in terms of handling power, the ZF-6 will handle it better than the auto transmissions that were used. My 6-speed transmission is completely untouched and it takes my cars 466 RWHP without any issues at all. I plan on taking it out and going through it some day (it has over 100K miles on it now) but it still shifts very smooth and runs great.

If you plan on really building up the engine and you have an auto transmission be prepared to get it rebuilt as well to help handle the power. But I do think that autos are better for drag racing than 6-speeds are, for the most part.

I see it this way; the more experience you have, the better you can utilize a manual transmission. For the rest of us mere mortals, an auto would probably give us better, more consistent times...in any form of motorsports.

But, sticks have more street cred and certainly more fun.

So i guess what im tring to say is it any harder to make an auto C4 just as fast as a Stick C4.

I couldn't help putting in my 2 cents worth, and this is my first time on this board, but here goes. When you're sporting a Vette, it really doesn't whether your stick, or auto. You've got nothing to prove to anyone, because you've made it to the top of the pile. I prefer stick, mainly for the cool factor, not to mention resale, if you actually decide to depart with the vette. If you're planning on camming the motor, you can bypass the stall converter required with the auto, and what's a vette, or any other decent street machine without a pretty decent cam? When I'm approached by any rice burners, or corvette wantabees, whether 2 wheel, or 4, I just kinda look at em, like you've got to be kidding me ( when I'm not in the vette, I'm on my Harley). Its all about attitude. American made RULES !!

I'd say auto because ricers think that automatics are slower. Then I can say to the ricer, "my automatic can beat your manual!" I have probably said that phrase more times than our very popular staple food here, rice!

Thanks again guys. I still havent figured out what i want. Seems like just working harder to find a stick would be less trouble then all the work that comes with an Auto when moding thanks

Hey man, in fact, I'd rather kiss a step sister because she doesn't have to be related to me. And she could be hot as well.

Bottom line, yeah, I'd like to keep my auto as long as it is built with a high stall lock-up type converter for street use. I'd love a big trans cooler as well so it doesn't burn up as quickly.

Simple answer = drive each and decide which better suits your needs.

Do a search here on the forum (the tech forum) reguarding issues with 4+3 tranny's that have been abused and/or not serviced regularly. Be sure you get a good one if you go that route.

kopbet89c4 -- "I" -- have a auto-- with a b&m shift kit --- high stall --does great power brake burn outs--- great 1-2 chirps -- 2-3 some times( it is a L83)
over all it's a great trans. BUT--- "I" would rather it be a 6 speed ( not a 4+3 unless for a good price) "I" just like vette w/ a stick.
PS-- autos are faster.

If your drap racing go auto like others have mentioned. But think about this, sticks came with the D44 rear end which is stronger then the D36 in the autos. Soooo.... if your gonna drag race, buy an auto (to be consistent) then swap out the rear end for a D44. Or buy the stick and swap out the 6 spd to buy an auto. Crazy ain't it!

Based on my prior reading, they say men drive sticks, women drive autos. Sticks are better for everything except dragracing. If you are a coffee drinker, auto is best. If you are tall or have big feet, auto is also the way to go. If you want to look fast, be fast, and beat anything on the road, Sticks Rule. Your sex life will improve if you go the stick route also. Make sure the car is red too!. Remember, none of these statements reflect MY opinion, I came to these conclusions based on the prior debates.

Yeah - buy which is better - turbo or supercharger?
