I purchased my 88 coupe with only one set of keys, and I wanted a second set made just in case I lost the originals. The dealer wanted $75.00 for the VATS blank. So I went on Ebay and found one for 16.99 plus s&h, came to about $20. I needed my ohm reading to see which number to buy, so I bought a multimeter for about $15.00 and read the resistance, odered the blank, and received it a week later. Good deal right? Less than half price.
So I went to my local ACE hardware the get the keys cut last night, and when I showed the blanks to the girl she says, "Oh we have those for $25.00, and brings out a nice case full of them, with a VATS reader inside. I had no idea they carried those, didn't even ask, I go there all of the time. So now I'm $10.00 behind, but at least I have a new multi meter. Just thought I'd share and maybe save someone else the time and effort.
Thats great to know, I was looking at doing the same thing on ebay because I also have only one key. I did not know that a place like Ace would carry thoese keys. I thought it would be dealer or ebay only, thats great info thanks.

I paid 35 dollars at my dealership for a second copy. Looks like your dealership is trying to rip you off.
